The anti-roll gyro stabilizer has a heavy flywheel inside, and relies on the angular momentum of the flywheel to offset the sway of the boat. A stabilizer’s capacity to stability is its angular momentum. This is a measure of how big the rotor is and how fast the rotor is spinning.
