Brass Clock Chart Weight (Weems & Plath 610500)
The Brass Clock Chart Weight (model Weems & Plath 610500) is a nautical instrument designed to ensure the proper functioning of a marine clock or chronometer on a boat or yacht. It serves as a counterweight for the clock's chart or timekeeping mechanism, stabilizing the clock and ensuring accurate time readings, even in rough sea conditions. This elegant brass weight not only serves a practical purpose but also enhances the aesthetic appeal of maritime timekeeping.

Functions of the Brass Clock Chart Weight (Weems & Plath 610500):

Stabilizing the Clock:

The primary function of the brass chart weight is to stabilize the marine clock or chronometer onboard ships or yachts.
It counterbalances the movement of the clock, preventing it from swinging or shaking during turbulent sea conditions, thus ensuring the accuracy of timekeeping.
Ensuring Accurate Timekeeping:

By providing consistent and reliable support to the clock’s mechanism, the weight ensures the chronometer remains precise and unaffected by motion or vibrations on the vessel.
This is particularly important for navigation, as accurate timekeeping is essential for determining longitude and other vital maritime measurements.
Elegantly Designed:

The Weems & Plath 610500 clock chart weight is made from high-quality brass, giving it a polished and elegant appearance that complements the traditional maritime design.
Its brass construction offers a classic aesthetic, often with a reflective, golden finish, which blends beautifully with nautical décor.
Durability:

As it is made from solid brass, the chart weight is both durable and resistant to corrosion, making it ideal for use in marine environments where saltwater, humidity, and fluctuating temperatures are common.
The brass material ensures longevity, making it a reliable component of your marine timekeeping system for years.
Easy to Install:

The chart weight is designed for easy installation on the clock, typically hanging or mounting in a way that allows it to be securely attached to the timepiece, either by a hook or attached directly to the clock's housing.
Its simple attachment ensures that it does not interfere with the operation of the clock, yet provides the necessary support to maintain stability.
Traditional Nautical Design:

This chart weight is a part of the Weems & Plath brand, known for producing high-quality marine instruments with a focus on both function and design.
Its classic, nautical appearance makes it a popular choice among yacht owners, sailors, and maritime enthusiasts who appreciate both craftsmanship and utility.
Ideal for Marine Use:

Perfectly suited for marine environments, the chart weight is designed to work in conjunction with marine clocks that are exposed to the motions of the sea.
It is often used with ship's chronometers, deck clocks, or navigation timepieces, ensuring these instruments function reliably even in challenging conditions.
